P6 & 7 visit to Dungiven Library

15th Nov 2024

On Friday Primary 6 and 7 had the first of three visits to Dungiven Library. When we were there the librarian talked about how you go about getting a book out and the importance of not taking a book out for someone else. The librarian also went through different types of books - fiction and non-fiction. Highlighting the difference between both. She also asked the children if they knew the name of the part of the book that is on the back cover. The children were able to confidently answer this question with the word Blurb. The librarian also read out different examples of blurbs to see if the children knew them - the children all loved this interaction and found this quite exciting. The children also arranged authors names alphabetically.
At the end of the session the children had time to go and find books which they wanted to take out on loan. We would like to thank Dungiven Library for such an informative session today and we are looking forward to our next visit😊
